In Total Disarray
October 4th, 2011
I was at my neighbor’s downtown office yesterday afternoon and the place was in total disarray. He’s been telling me that his company is on the verge of filing bankruptcy, and by the looks of this one weird office chair mat that they had, you’d think that they bought all their stuff at a flea market. There were missing copiers, broken computers, and even a busted desk that was just lying in pieces in the corner. I had no idea things were going this bad, so as we sat down to talk I told him that I could get him a pretty good deal on a new chairmat.
He appreciated my offer but then started talking about the previous night’s football game. The Cowboys had failed to cover the spread and he was absolutely livid. He droned on and on about it for over 10 minutes before I realized that he must have lost a bundle on the game. I have no idea if his gambling problem is affecting his business, but it can be helping much. I told him to give me a call if he was interested in the chair mat and then I left, and I haven’t heard from them since.
